Florence is definitely among the most beautiful cities of Italy, famous for its rich artistic and architectural heritage. Its historic center (away from traffic and industrial areas) is one of the largest in the world and has such many monuments and arts that one gets the impression not having enough.

The city extends along the banks of the River Arno and is framed by the beautiful hills of Chianti to the south, west from the plains of Valdarno, north and east by the Apennine mountains. The number of its inhabitants is around 500,000, but considering the various countries of the metropolitan area (Fiesole, Bagno a Ripoli, Scandicci, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Sesto Fiorentino), universitary students, commuters, it gets to have more than 1,000,000 persons who visit it every day.

The origins date back to the Etruscan period, passing then by the Roman period, the Lombards, Guelphs and Ghibellines.
After the era that saw the birth and death of Dante Alighieri, which took place in exile in Ravenna in 1321, it was the turn of the famous De Medici family, who held power in Florence from 1434 to 1743. During this period in Florence the most beautiful works of art flourished.

The city has also lived in its recent history a great danger for his numerous works of art such as during the Second World War and the 1966 flood.

The best time to visit Florence is from April to June and in September/October. During these periods the climate is mild and the days are often clear and sunny.

Florence is about 26 km from Villa La Cappella.
